Loch Lomond & The Trossach's National Park

Nestling at the top of Loch Lomond is Ardlui which is our base for ther next 7 days. We hire a traditional Nordic cabin complete with sauna, massage shower and a spectacular view just a few feet from the Loch itself.

Loch Lomond is the largest body of inland water in Britain, covering over 70 square kilometres (27 square miles), and stretches 23 miles long. The Loch reaches depths of 623 feet, of which all but 8 metres lies below sea level.

To the Eastern side of the Loch is The West Highland Way, which covers some of the most breathtaking views and gives the avid walker a vivid appreciation of the everchanging characteristics and shear beauty.

"Click on the Day"

Day One

After a 9 hour drive the night before all we manage today is a few pictures of our cabin and a stroll to the local pub - The Stagger Inn.

Day Two - Christmas Eve

We spend the morning relaxing and then take the scenic route to Loch Fyne to purchase our seafood for the week before relaxing some more, testing the sauna and then the obligatory 12 pints of Guinness followed by some christmas carols in the Ardlui Hotel.

Day Three- Christmas Day

Well, what does everyone do? Eat, Sleep, Drink and open presents!!

Day Four- Boxing Day

Same again Eat, Drink & Sleep although Iain & Myself did start to feel lazy, so we managed a 5 mile walk (Jog) in just over an hour covering a section of the West highland Way. Our incentives - it was to get dark in an hour and a half, the map we were using didnt explain very well, if the dotted line at the end of our route was a bridge or a boundary line which would result in a very cold swim and of course the pub!

Day Five

A 300 mile road trip taking in Balloch, Glen Coe, Nevis Range, Fort William, Aanoch Mor, and Oban.
